CATALYTIC TREATMENT OF AL-KASIK NAPHTHA WITH NATURAL ZEOLITE PREPARED AND GRAFTED WITH TUNGSTEN TRIOXIDE WO3
Firas Emad Fatthee* and Omar Musa Ramadhan
ABSTRACT
This study included the use of local clay raw containing many clay minerals in its composition, as it was treated with many chemical processes to remove ineffective components that decrease its catalytic activity. After removing the carbonate, iron and amorphous silica, we can get natural zeolite (NZ), which has a good pore size and surface area that enables it to be used as a catalyst and as a support material for WO3 catalyst with a weight percentage of 1% and 2% loading, The prepared catalysts were studied using several techniques (TG, DTA, XRD, XRF, BET, SEM). The natural zeolite and the prepared catalysts was applied in the catalytic treatment of Al-kasik naphtha, where the
untreated crude sample and the catalytically treated samples were analyzed using 1H-NMR, and the 1H-NMR spectrum was used to calculate the octane number.
