ABSTRACT

A condition where the tissue in the body are selectively destroyed and after healing process and discoloration, leaves a scar for the whole life is known as Vrana (Wound). Although Vrana is the oldest known aliments, its high prevalence world wide is still a matter of concern. In india most of the population still resides in poor hygienic and malnourished conditions, so the incidence of infection is maximum and delayed wound healing is more common. Application of Chandanpadmkaadi taila for healing of Dushta vrana is one among the sixty Upakramas of vrana. This Taila yoga contains the drugs possessing Ropana and Shodhana properties, thus considered as a good curative measure for local treatment of Dushta vrana. The effect of Chandanpadmkaadi Taila was studied on 33 patients of Dushta Vrana on the basis of relief obtained on subjective and objective parameters and assessing the result applying paired t- test and percentage of relief on the sign and symptoms of Dushta Vrana. Duration of the study was 6 months, Daily regular dressing was continued and Vrana gradually started decreasing in size and complete healing was achieved. After achievement of complete healing, patients were advised for follow up in Shalya OPD at weekly interval for a period of two months. During the follow up period, no sign and symptom of recurrence were observed. Adequate healing of Dushta Vrana was achieved in maximum number of cases.
