IMPROVEMENTS OF MALE APHRODISIAC ACTIVITY AND SEXUAL PARAMETERS BY HYDROETHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACT OF FLEURYA AESTUANS IN WISTAR RATS

ABSTRACT
Forty (40) male Wistar rats weighing 150.2– 196.7g were divided into four (1-4) groups of ten rats each to investigate the lauded aphrodisiac activity of Fleurya aestuans leaves by herbalists in Nigeria. Group 1 served as Control, whereas groups 2, 3, and 4 were given 50, 75, and 200 mg/kg of Fleurya aestuans extract, respectively. The male rats' mating behaviors were observed after they were paired with a receptive female (1:1). The results revealed that the extract at 50, 75, and 200 mg/kg increased the frequency of mount and intromission while decreasing the latencies of mount and intromission significantly (P
