COMPARATIVE STUDY OF BRAHMI AND BRMHAMANDUKI: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Mandukparni (Centella Asiatica Linn) and Bacopa monneria both arethe most useful traditional medicinal plants in India. Whole parts ofthe plants have some medicinal property.The active constituentCentella asiatica are triterpens and medicinal value of these plant aremainly presence of several triterpenoide saponin glycoside. Bacopamoneeiera is well known herbal plant extensively using as memoryenhancer all over the world. Bacopa manneria and centella asiaticaboth described as Brahmi, have different ingredients and have hardlyany relationship with the properties as described to the drug Brahmi.The both plants is used as memory enhancing activity. The Departmentof Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy(ISM &H) have namedthat Bacopa Monneria is Brahmi (nira-Brahmi) and Centella asiaticais Mandukparni (Bramhamanduki). This review gives the detail pharmacognistc evaluationof Centella asiatica and Bacopa monneria
