ABSTRACT
Daucus carota (Apiaceae) is traditionally used in ayurvedic medicine for apparently much varied conditions. It is commonly used in combination with other substances or sometimes alone. Supportive evidence from pharmacological studies suggests its prominent role in treatment of inflammation. Inflammation is a defense mechanism and protective response of vascular tissues to harmful stimuli like pathogens, damaged cells, allergens, irritants. Inflammation is of two types i.e. acute and chronic. The acute toxicity study of the extract had shown no sign of toxicity up to a dose level of 2000mg/kg body
