A CASE STUDY: KSHARAKARMA IN DUSHTAVRANA

ABSTRACT
The treatment and healing of wound are some of the oldest subjects discussed in the medical literature. In Ayurveda non healing ulcers can be correlated with dushtavrana. Dushta vranas are a frequently encountered problem in present era produced commonly as a complication of trauma or pathological insult and it causes long term agony to the patient. Application of Kshrakarma for Shodhana and Ropana of Dushtavrana is one among Shasti upakrama. The present study was undertaken to determine the efficacy of Chirabilva pratisraniya kshara in dushtavrana. It was used topically in non healing ulcer and observation done for 10days. It was found to reduce slough tissue, discharge and pain. It also helped in improved floor and
granulation tissue formation that is to prepare wound bed. A case report of a nonhealing ulcer successfully treated by local application of Kshara.
