Abstract

A CONCEPTUAL STUDY OF MADATYAY AND ALCOHOLISM

ABSTRACT

Aim of Ayurveda is promotion of Health and prevention of disease.[1] Alcoholism is a big issue of nowadays, alcoholism means consumption of excessive alcohol. Madya is a correlate with alcohol and Alcoholism with Madatyay. Madya (alcohol) and Visha (poison) both have similar properties and originates the Moha (unconsciousness). after drinking Madya, unless the qualities of energy are weakened or devastated and the Mana (mind), Buddhi (intellect) and Indriya (senses) become more attentive than beforehand, due to the happiness of the heart, then that is the Pratham Mada. When there is partial loss of qualities of the Madya energy, then it is the Madhyam Mada Avastha. When the qualities of Oja are destroyed by the influence of Madira, it is in the state of Mada or Tratiya Mada Avastha [2] Alcohol consumption in excess amount is the cause of chronic liver disease.[3] seven calories are reached in one gram of alcohol. Alcohol is stored chiefly in the liver cannot stored in the body.[4]
