ABSTRACT
Extended release Etodolac tablet was prepared in nine batches (F1 – F9) by varying concentration of Ethocel 10p and Methocel F50 as the extended release polymer and Avicel pH 102 as a directly compressible material with aim to extend the release of drug, improve patient compliance, therapeutic efficacy and to reduce dosage regimen with less toxicity. Retention of basic characteristics peak in FTIR, Uniform dispersion of drug in an amorphous form in F9 batch from Differential Scanning Colorimetry (DSC) confirmed compatibility of Etodolac with polymers. Prepared tablets were evaluated for weight
variation, thickness, hardness, friability and drug content were found within limit while F9 has shown a maximum drug release of 98.21 % at the end of 15th hour and considered as optimized, follows Zero order release kinetics and was stable when stored at 40 20C temperature with relative humidity of 755% for a period of three months.
