A CASE DISCUSSION ON EFFECT OF TRIKANTAKADI GUGGULU IN THE MANAGEMENT OF VATASTEELA (B.P.H)

ABSTRACT
A benign prostate hyperplasia is progressive urinary disorder seen in male above 50 years. It is mainly because of as age advance serum estrogen increases and level of testosterone decreases which stimulates prostate and proliferation of elements of prostate. frequency, urgency, hesitancy, straining, weak stream, incomplete empty bladder are symptoms. In modern it is managed with alpha adrenergic blockers it is relaxes smooth muscle of bladder allowing better urinary flow but side effects like postural hypotension, dizziness, ejaculation problem, impotence etc. In susruta samhita it is similarly with vatastila a type of mutraghata. Trikantakadi guggulu was selected for treatment of BPH
from the reference of Yogaratnakara classical text. This drug was given for 60 days with kulattha kwatha anupana along with pathyakara ahara vihara was advised. IPSS mean score was 19 which were reduced to 7, the PVR was 85ml which was reduced to 30 ml after treatment and size of prostate was 34gm which was reduced to 29 gm. Trikantakadi guggulu is anti-inflammatory, analgesic diuretic action; it is safe, effective, easily available and cast effective.
