Abstract

MARVELLING WONDERS OF VANJULA(SALIX CAPREA)-AN OVERVIEW

ABSTRACT

Jagatyevam anoushadham-all the plants present in the universe posses medicinal properties. There are many medicinal plants left unused due to lack of knowledge about them. Vanjula (Salix caprea, belonging to the family-salicaceae) which is native to Kashmir, is mentioned in brihatrayees and nighantus. It is vatakaphahara, which can be used in conditions like jwara, visarpa, shopha, vrana, kushta, arshas etc. Being primely vedhanasthapana, bark contains salicilin, salycilic acid which acts as analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic has been databased.
