ABSTRACT
Two simple, rapid and precise UV spectroscopic methods namely Dual Wavelength (method 1) and Ratio Derivative (method 2) have been developed for the simultaneous determination of Rosuvastatin Calcium and Telmisartan. .In Dual wavelength method, RSV was estimated by measuring absorbance difference between 246 nm & 255 nm and TEL was estimated by measuring absorbance difference between 237.7 nm & 250 nm. Ratio derivative method was also developed for estimation of these drugs using standard concentration of 8 μg/mL of TEL as divisor for RSV & standard concentration of 2 μg/mL of RSV as divisor for TEL. The first derivative of ratio spectra was taken & wavelength of maximum respose determined at 237.2 nm for RSV and 229 nm for TEL. Linearity ranges for both UV Spectrophotometric methods were 2-6 μg/mL for RSV and 8-24 μg/mL for TEL. Correlation coefficient for both the methods was greater than 0.99 and mean recoveries for all the methods were between 98% - 102% for both the drugs. Both the methods were validated as per ICH Q2 (R1) guidelines. Both UV Spectroscopic methods were simple, economic and fairly accurate & can be used for estimation of these drugs in routine QC analysis.
