A REVIEW ARTICLE ON MEDICINAL USES OF CASSIA FISTULA LINN

ABSTRACT
Worldwide there are many Cassia species which are used in medicinal systems. Cassia fistula is also one of those. It is used as a greatly effective moderate laxative that is safe even for children. However, in excessive doses, the leaves and bark can cause nausea and vomiting with abdominal pain and cramps.[18] Cassia fistula is also very useful in treatment of Abdominal tumors, and tumors of glands, liver, and throat, it is also very usful for burns, constipation, convulsions, delirium, diarrhea, dysuria, epilepsy, gravel, hematuria, pimples, and glandular tumors. It is known as a rich source of tannins, flavonoids, and glycosides. these are nutritionally also valuable. The plant is rich
in carbohydrates, Linoleic, Oleic, and Stearic. The present review summarizes some important pharmacological studies on Cassia fistula and phytochemical investigations and isolated principles from them.
