STUDY OF PRABAHU MARMA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO KAKSHADHARA MARMA

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is an ancient indian medical science. Marma Sharira is the distinctive concept of Ayurveda. Marma are formed by the confluence of important elements or structure of body namely Mamsa, Sira, Snayu, Asthi and Sandhi. Marma are not merely anatomical landmarks but these Marma points are said to contain the 3 doshas i,e Vata, Pita, Kapha along with Prana, Ojasa or Tejasa[Agni]. The description of Marma is available in Samhitas and Veda also. Acharya Sushruta stated every aspect of Marma like definition, sign and symptoms of Marma injury. Total number of Marma described in Samhitas are 107. Marma are vital points present all over the body and having injury to
these points generate symptoms from pain to fatal effect. So the detailed knowledge of these Marma points and protection from any injury is important from surgical point of view. Kakshadhara Marma was selected for this study. Kakshadhara is a Snayu and Vaikalyakara Marma present on Prabahu of human body and are two in numbers. This article summarizes detailed description of Prabahu Marma with special reference to Kakshadhara Marma. This study can help the healthy professional to understand clinical importance of Kakshadhara Marma.
