Abstract

ROLE OF YOGASANAS IN MENSTRUAL DISORDERS: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Disturbances of the menstrual and Reproductive functions are common and a source of continuous suffering for many women throughout their lives. There are lot of reasons why menstrual problems like delayed menstruation, dysmenorrhoea, heavy bleeding etc caused in women some of them include practicing heavy work outs, sudden loss in weight, changes in diet pattern, excessive stress etc. Such activities bring about a lot of changes in a women’s body. Being common and lifestyle disturbing problem, it needs to be treated effectively. Allopathic and Ayurvedic therapies are there to treat these disorders; however there are some remedies that can be used to overcome the symptoms. Yoga is a way of life, an integrated system of education for the body, mind and inner spirit. Yoga is precious gift which can enrich human life. In Yoga, the physical exercises called Asanas are non-violent and provide a gentle stretching that acts to lubricate the joints, muscle, ligaments, tendons and other parts of the body. Asanas help to tone the nervous and endocrine system, improve circulation, release tension and increase flexibility. One of the best ways to regulate your irregular period, painful menstruation and menstrual disorders is Yoga.
