Vipan Kumar*, Rahul Awasthi and Dr. Shivali Singla
ABSTRACT
Pluronic Lecithin Organogels (PLO) has gained attention since last decade for its considerable potential in treatment of skin diseases. PLO’s are biocompatible and thermodynamically stable formulations with enhanced skin permeation and localized effect. PLO has a versatile nature with low cost, dose flexibility and longer contact time. The literature reviews showed that PLO with several therapeutic agents can effectively be delivered through topical and transdermal route. PLO’s have considerable potential in enhancement of drug permeability, modification of skin barrier system and delivery of hydrophilic and hydrophobic drugs effectively. The purpose of this review is to give an insight into the recent reports of PLO formulation, evaluation, applications and other related aspects.
