ANTI – MICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF SYZYGIUM CUMINI AND FICUS RELIGIOSA AGAINST ESBL ISOLATES
*Dr. Sonia Sethi and Saransh Saxena
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this work is to evaluate Syzygium cumini & Ficus religiosa leaf extracts and investigate their phyto-constituents. The phytochemical analysis and anti-microbial activity of two distinct extracts (Ethanol and Methanol) from the leaves of both plants were evaluated against ESBL isolates. According to the findings, the methanol extract of S. cumini was shown to be the most potent against ESBL-producing bacteria, with significantly high inhibition of ESBL strains, but F. religiosa was found to be poor in suppressing growth. Flavonoid, Tannin and Phenols were found highest in the methanol
extract of S. cumini and alkaloids were found highest in ethanol extract of F. religiosa.
