ROLE OF RASAUSHADI IN PRANAVAHA SROTAS

ABSTRACT
Srotas are defined as the passages through which the various dhatus undergoes the process of metabolic transformation. According to Acharya charaka it is to be noted that srotas are structurally similar to the corresponding tissues. Pranavaha srotas is one of the most important system in the body. They are the channels through which pranavayu flows. Pranavayu controls and regulates the intellectual functions, sensory and motor activities, cardiovascular functions, mental process and activities such as spitting, belching, respiration and deglutition. Therefore pranavaha srotas stands for the system concerned with activities of pranavayu. The role of rasaushadis in pranavaha sroto vikara is appreciable. The rasaoushadi are more effective with low dose, palatable, and bestow immediate effect. Because of various samskaras, the particle size become very minute so that it gets absorbed easily in
Respiratory tract. Such effect of rasaushadi can be seen in disease like Kasa, hikka, shwasa, rajayakshma, parshwasoola, urakshata, swaabheda and hridroga.
