A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON LIPOSOMES
Nale Dhanashree Balasaheb*, Dr. Ajay Dinkar Shinde
ABSTRACT
Liposomes, phospholipid bilayered sphere-shaped small vesicles, are a superior method for drug administration through the cell membrane. The medicines are placed in the vesicles and are actively administered. Liposomes are capable of successfully delivering medicinal compounds thanks to improved technology. Liposomes are categorised based on their structure, production techniques, polymer content, and uses. Liposomes are made using a variety of techniques including sonication, solvent extraction, detergent removal, and cell extrusion. Liposomes demonstrate their distinctiveness in safe drug administration in a variety of sectors of pharmacy and medicine, thanks to a number of benefits. This review discusses liposomal drug
delivery system classifications, advantages, drug delivery mechanisms, manufacturing techniques, and pharmaceutical uses.
Keywords: Liposomes, Drug administration, Phospholipids, Solvent extraction.
