COLOURFUL WORLD OF PLANTS: NATURAL PIGMENTS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS

ABSTRACT
Plants owe their appearance to some extent to colorful substances which includes biochromes, which absorb or replicate light of varying wavelength. The ingested light is scattered in the pigment, and the mirrored light is noticeable as color. Pigments are available in all living matter and provides appealing colors and play fundamental parts in the improvement of living beings. This paper presents the basic information about pigments focusing attention on the natural ones; it emphasizes the principal plant pigments: chlorophyll and carotenoids, their salient features, biosynthesis and their applications.
