A REVIEW ON THE OBSTETRIC RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS FOR WOMEN WITH EPLEPSY DURING PREGNANCY

ABSTRACT
Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder but women with epilepsy face a number of challenges during their pregnancy. Women with epilepsy have higher risk of obstetrical complications which include preeclampsia/eclampsia, preterm delivery, placental abortion, spontaneous abortion, cesarean delivery, stillbirth and small for gestational age babies. As well as the infants of women with epilepsy are at increased risk for major congenital malformations and adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. This article aims to deliver a concise review on the obstetric risks and complications for women with epilepsy during pregnancy.
