Giant salvinia (Salvinia molesta) is one of the most noxious invasive species in the world. Our bioactivity guided fractionation of ethanol extract of giant salvinia led to the isolation of about 50 compounds. The leaf extracts of Salvinia molesta D. S. Mitchell, a fresh water weed possess antioxidant activity and due to the presence phenol, flavonoid, alkaloid, tannin, and saponin contents to find possible sources for future novel antioxidants in food and pharmaceutical formulations. Due to the protecting activity it should be used as a therapeutic agent.
