ABSTRACT
Adenovirus is a common virus and responsible for many systemic human diseases in all age groups. It is also the main common cause of viral conjunctivitis with its associated corneal complications, particularly the development of anterior stromal opacities which can remain for long time and causing variable degrees of visual impairment. In this study we overviewed Adenoviruses regarding classification, serotyping and disease they cause. We also concentrated on the risk of developing keratopathy after conjunctivitis within one month period after the diagnosis of the conjunctivitis. We found that bilateral conjunctivitis is more common than unilateral conjunctivitis. Right eye conjunctivitis is more common than left eye conjunctivitis regarding the unilateral conjunctivitis. Keratopathy occurred in more
than half of the specimen with more occurrence as bilateral keratopathy than unilateral keratopathy.
