ABSTRACT
Two new types of azo ligands were synthesized by the coupling reaction of salicyaldehyde with pyridine and benzoic diazonium chloride salts in alkaline alcoholic solution and their complexes with[Mn2+, Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+] were synthesized. The prepared azo ligands and the complexes were cheeked by different techniques such as (1HNMR, magnetic susceptibility, C.H.N analysis, Infrared, electronic spectra, atomic absorption, and molar conductivity. The analytical data shows the ligands to metal ratio [2L:M] for all complexes and the two azo ligands becharied bidentate chelating agent via oxygen of aldehyde group(C=O) and (OH) of phenolic group. According to measurements suggest an octahedral, tetrahedral and square planer around metal ions.
Keywords: Coordination complexes, salicyldehyde, azo dyes.
