RAFT FORMING GASTRO RETENTIVE DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM-A NOVEL APPROACH

ABSTRACT
The article on gastro-retentive drug delivery systems focuses on the development of the Raft forming system. Raft forming system is a type of floating drug delivery system with a low density. Stomach-specific controlled drug delivery system is better than a conventional drug delivery system. The raft forming system is designed in a manner to enhance the Absorption and improve the therapeutic efficacy to the specific controlled oral dosage form. Oral drug delivery is the Extremely preferential and easy route of administration. The Raft forming system approach is useful to increase the retention time of the system. The reaction of formulated carbonates components with gastric
acid causes bubbles and these bubbles float on stomach fluid forming a raft. The review of raft foaming gastro-retentive drug delivery system follows the study of Introduction, Anatomy, and physiology of GIT, advantage, limitations, approaches based on their mechanism, and evaluation of Raft forming system.
