CONCEPTUAL STUDY ON VATAJA KASA

ABSTRACT
Kasa is a disease where the pranavahasrotas gets vitiated. The important vital signs in our body are uchwasa and niswasa, life depends on that. If the pranavahasrotas get vitiated these functions also get afflicted. Due to urbanization and newly adapted life style, the man is away from nature and the environment is more polluted. Ayurveda explains that dhuma and raja are the main important factors that vitiate the pranavaha srotas. The condition where in the vayu moves forcefully in upward direction along the throat and head and which brings friction in chest region and expectorate the content is called kasa. In Ayurvedic classics kasa is explained as a main disease and also symptoms of various diseases. The disease kasa is mainly classified into five types- vataja, pittaja, kaphaja, kshataja and kshayaja. Vataja kasa is one among the five types of kasa. Vataja kasa has an increasing prevalence overtime due to external influences such as industrialization, urbanization, environmental pollution and population explosion.
