THE STUDY OF HAIR GROWTH STIMULATING ACTIVITY & PREPARATION OF AYURVEDA HAIR OIL FORMULATION

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is a deep ocean of knowledge and science which is not only for systemic disease but also minor diseases. Hair fall is the most common minor disease which is affecting approximately 1.7% of the world population and challenging task for Allopathic physicians as well as for Ayush physicians. Hair fall has been described in Ayurveda by the name of khalitya roga under the title of kshudra roga or shiroroga (diseases of head & scalp). Khalitya is a progressing disorder in people living with sedentary lifestyles, stress induced hectic schedules along with indiscriminate dietary habits result in many disturbance and deficiencies in the body which directly reflect in loss of hair. Ayurvedic hair oil formulations always have attracted
considerable attention because of their good activity and comparatively lesser or nil side effects with synthetic drugs. The objective of present study involves preparation of herbal hair oil using amla, hibiscus, trifala, methi and its evaluation for increase in hair growth activity. The present research work was aimed to formulate Ayurvedic herbal oil for application in hairs using various plant materials were collected viz., Amla, Bhringaraj, Aloe vera, Mustak, Ashwagandha, Shikakai, Methi, Yashtimadhu and Hibiscus flowers etc. and its evaluation for various properties like specific gravity, viscosity, acid value, saponification value, pH, sensitivity test, Irritation test etc. All the parameters were found to be within the standard limits.
