Pharmacoviligance is the science of detection, assessment and prevention of adverse drug reaction (ADR) in humans. ADR is a response to a drug which is noxious and unintended, and which occurs at doses normally used in man for prophylaxis, diagnosis, or therapy of disease or for the modification of physiological function. Though there is common notion that Ayurveda medicines, procedures, therapies are safe, it is observed during the Ayurveda clinical practice that physician comes across adverse drug reactions or events. Hence, pharmacovigilance is the need of time for Ayurveda to ensure safety of drugs, so as to minimize adverse effects and to provide maximum benefit to the patient and enrich Ayurveda.
