ABSTRACT
In the present work we have synthesized Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II) and Co(II) metal complexes of chlorthalidone Schiff base. All the compounds were structurally characterized using 1H and 13C NMR, MASS, IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Prepared compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial and diuretic activity using mouse model. Mice were treated with prepared compounds. The amounts of urine excreted at definite time interval were recorded. The obtained results were compared with those of parent drug chlorthalidone. The increased diuretic activities of all complexes; whereas, Zn(II) and Cu(II) complexes show significant activity.
Keywords: Chlorthalidone, Schiff base metal complex, DHFR inhibitor, docking, P.carinii inhibitors.
