ABSTRACT
Herbal medicines are now attracting attention as potential sources cancer preventive agents. Plants have been used for medical purposes since the beginning of human history and are the basis of modern medicine. Most chemotherapeutic drugs for cancer treatment are molecules identified and isolated from plants or their synthetic derivatives. Although the use of herbal medicine in treating cancer shows less chemotherapy- induced toxicity, more researches are required to reach their full therapeutic potentials. In this present study, Anticancer activity of ethanolic extract of leaves of Bauhinia racemosa (Lam.) were reported. This anticancer activity of the leaves of Bauhinia racemosa (Lam) were performed on HT-29 (colon cancer cell line). Leaves of Bauhinia racemosa (Lam.) have superoxide scavenging effect with IC50 value of 94.65 ug/ml The cells were subsequently exposed to (20, 40, 60, 80, 100 ug/ml). The result were compared with the standard drug inhibitors 5flurouracil (20, 40, 60, 80, 100 ug/ml).
