ABSTRACT
Present study describes a RP-TLC densitometry method based on green
science. Reverse Phase TLC plates coated with C-18 silica gel along
with a mobile phase comprising of two eco- friendly solvents, ethanol
and water (7:3) were used to achieve the separation. The developed
method was validated as per the ICH guidelines. Linearity was in the
range of 30- 80 ng/band with an r2 value of 0.996. The % RSD for
repeatability and inter-day precision studies were found to be well
below 2 %. Limit of Detection and Limit of Quantification were 3.82
ng and 11.5 ng per band respectively. The technique was found to be
suitable for quantification of apixaban in commercial tablet
formulation. Features like usage of benign solvents, less solvent and
energy consumption were designed in to improve the greenness profile.
A widely used assessment tool ―Analytical Eco scale‖ was used to establish the finer green
character when compared to published HPTLC methods.
