PHARMACEUTICAL COCRYSTALS SALTS OF DAPSONE

ABSTRACT
A series of one cocrystal and three salts of dapsone have been synthesised and characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, DSC, XRPD and SCXRD. The crystal structures of cocrystal/salts with 2-nitrobenzoic acid, 3-nitrobenzoic acid, hydrochloric acid and nitric acid have been dedudced. The correlation between the COOH---N/N+-H---O- distance and Pka’s of the corresponding coformer for the reported molecules and those under current study has been deduced and validated. In addition, the occurrence of nonconventional hydrogen bonding has been justified. Further, the unit cell similarity indices were caluculated between reported molecules and those under current study and the
values were found to be close to zero indicating isostructurality.
