ABSTRACT
Currently there is no cure for neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer‘s disease, Parkinson‘s disease, etc. The only options available in current medical science is symptomatic relief and prolongation of functional activity of the neurons. The latter is done by preservation or slowing down the rate of degeneration of neurons by administration of neuroprotective agents. Marine sources are a significant inclusion in the medicinal field with their use in several diseases. Many oceanic forms of life have been reported by various studies to have potential neuroprotective activity. This review article consolidates various products obtained from different marine sources that can be employed to deliver neuroprotective activity in the mitigation of these neurodegenerative disorders.
