ABSTRACT
Aspergillus infection remains a supreme cause for mortality and morbidity in organ transplant recipients, immunocompromised and critically ill patients. Although Amphotericin B, Echinocandins and mold active Triazoles are the mainstay treatment options for aspergillosis, Amphotericin B inhalation has been effectively used as both treatment and prophylactic agent in various forms of aspergillosis. Amphotericin B administration via aerosols to lungs is associated with high pulmonary drug concentration and minimal systemic side effects. The common side effects are cough, nausea, vomiting and bronchospasm.
Keywords: Amphotericin B, Fungal infection, Aspergillosis, Nebulisation.
