FAST-O-FILM: A NOVEL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

ABSTRACT
In the late 1970s, fast disintegrating drug delivery system was developed as another to capsules, tablets and syrups for geriatric and pediatric patients having issues in swallowing. to overcome the requirement, range of orally disintegrating tablets that disintegrate at intervals one minute in mouth while not manducation or drinkable were commercial. Then later, oral drug delivery technology had been improved from typical indefinite quantity type to changed unleash indefinite quantity type and developed recently fast disintegrating films rather than oral disintegrating tablets. Oral disintegrating film or strips containing water dissolving chemical compound retain the dosage form to be quickly hydrated by saliva, adhere to membrane, and disintegrate at intervals some seconds, dissolve and releases medication for oromucosal absorption once placed in mouth.
