REVIEW ON MADHU (HONEY) FOR EKAL DRAVYA CHIKITSA IN BRIHATRAYEE

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is a traditional system of Indian medicine which aims to promote health and wellness by maintaining equilibrium of body. Natural medicinal herbs are an important component of this science which aims to protect the body from various ailments and offer an user a variety of health benefits including physical as well as mental health. Our ancient Ayurvedic texts has clearly mentioned the use of particular herbs with specific anupaan (adjuvant) to obtain optimum results. For every therapeutic interventions, there presents a logic behind the line of treatment which is done by the yukti (logic) of a physician. This yukti is possible after having a detailed and basic knowledge about all
the substances which are to be considered by the physician at the time of treatment. Madhu is considered as one of the basic dravya in Ayurveda which is used both for medicinal purpose as well as an in the form of anupaan to be given with other primary substance. It is also considered best dravya to be used as a single medicine or in the form of anupaan with other dravya for the same indication, depending on the disease conditions.
