AN AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF INDRALUPTA W.S.R.T. ALOPECIA AREATA - A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
Indralupta is a disease in which hair lost from some or all areas of the body, usually from scalp. It shows one or more round patch hair loss spots on the scalp. Alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease characterized by hair loss can be correlated with Indralupta in Ayurveda. Due to side effects and limitation of the contemporary science, some harmless and effective medicines are expected from alternative medical sciences. Ayurveda has great potential to treat such autoimmune diseases. Steroid is only treatment for this disease in modern medicine. Here a case of alopecia areata successfully
treated with Ayurvedic management is recorded. In this case report patient with indralupta disease treated with Jalaukavacharan, Gunjadi tail for local application and internal medicine. This treatment helps to re grow hair earlier.
