ABSTRACT
Alzheimer’s disease is one of the degenerative disease that affects the brain and is one of the common cause of dementia. Alzheimer’s is characterized by progressive decline in cognitive function. AD is different from normal age-related decline in cognitive function, which is more gradual and associated with less disability. The start of the disease with mild symptoms and end with severe brain damage. The two pathologies associated are: β-amyloid plaque deposition and neurofibrillary tangles of hyper phosphorylated tau.The factors responsible for Alzheimer’s include deficiency of acetylcholine, increase in the level of free radicals and inflammation of brain tissues. Nowadays treatment is targeted to symptomatic therapy, although trials are underway that aim to reduce the production and overall burden of
pathology within the brain. Terminalia bellerica Roxb. is one of the most commonly used plants in Indian traditional systems of medicine (Combretaceae). It has wide variety of constituents which includes glycosides, flavonoids, tannins, phenolic compound, amino acids and saponins. The constituents are responsible for the pharmacological activities. by HRBC membrane stabilization test and protein denaturation test was done to confirm the anti-inflammatory activity.
