ABSTRACT
Soil is an important component and medium of nutrients for appropriate growth of plants. All agricultural productions and development of forests depends upon physico-chemical parameters like pH, alkalinity, texture, moisture content, temperature and chloride content of the soil. In the present work, the soil samples were collected from Jaipur city and subjected to various physico-chemical examinations such as alkalinity, moisture and chloride content to assess the quality of soil. Soil samples were air dried and digested in water. Alkalinity and chloride content in soil samples were determined by the titration method. Total alkalinity in soil samples were found in
the range of 15 to 30 mg/l and chloride content were found in the range of 245 to 400 mg/l. These parameters will be helpful to the farmers to solve the problems related to soil nutrients, quantity of which fertilizers to be used to increase the yield of crops.
