A SYSTEMIC REVIEW OF PSYCHOSIS AND RECENT FINDINGS OF PSYCHOSIS IN ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE

ABSTRACT
Purpose of review: Psychosis is a type of mental illness or it is disease of madness. Psychosis is a condition where a person loses touch with reality. The purpose of this review is to define psychosis and perspective regarding symptoms of psychosis disease and communicate recent findings like psychosis in Alzheimer’s disease and to find whether psychotic symptoms should be studied individually or as a whole. Recent findings: AD(Alzheimer’s disease) patients with psychosis indicate accelerated rate of cognitive decline prior to the beginning of psychosis are at increased risk of altering to AD. According to neurobiological studies, there may be worthiness in breaking down symptoms into delusions and hallucinations while other
studies like epidemiologic and genetic studies recommend the opposite opinion. Summary: This Article provides, based on the research that genetic factors relate to neurodegeneration to produce sensitivity to the development of psychosis in AD. Future studies are required for clarification of individual symptoms(delusions/hallucination).
