ABSTRACT
Starch is a polysaccharide that is abundant in nature and has a wide range of applications. Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is a worldwide food crop that has recently gained recognition as a functional food due to many nutraceutical components. Excipients are becoming more widely recognised as critical components of both traditional and novel drug products, serving unique roles in the formulation of optimally elegant, stable, effective, and active drug products. Sweet potato development as an excipient in tablet formulation will provide a higher degree of human protection than synthetic excipients, potentially
avoiding more severe side effects caused by synthetic excipients. Sweet potato starch used as binder, disintegrant, diluents. The pharmaceutical properties of modified sweet potato starch are superior to those of native sweet potato starch.
