A REVIEW ARTICLE ON IMMUNITY ENHANCER THERAPY SUVARNPRASHANA (GOLD LICKING) IN CHILDREN

ABSTRACT

Suvarnprashan is administration of processed gold in children is a different practice mentioned in Ayurveda as Suvarnprashan by Acharya Kashyapa thousands of years back. He explained the administration of Suvarna in children for the benefits of improving intellect, immunity, digestion, complexion, physical strength and life span etc. There are a many formulations of gold and even along with herbal drugs explained by the different Acharya Suvarnprashan Sanskar in children can be mainly implicated in two contexts of Ayurveda, Lehana (supplementary feeds) and Jatakarma Sanskara (New born care). This review proposes that the benefits of Suvarnprashan can be achieved at multiple levels like as a general health promotes and in specific to enhancement of intelligence, digestion, immunity, physical strength etc. Ayurveda recommends only purified and processed form of gold for internal administration.
