ABSTRACT
Recent developments in nanotechnology demonstrate a growing Interest in supramolecular drug fabrication for therapeutic and pharmaceutical applications. Precisely nanoscale structural features would address the untouched problems. One among the nanoformulation is nanosponge. Nano sponges are miniature sponges that can circulate across the body and attach to the surface to release it in a regulated and predictable manner. Drug delivery system based on nanosponge has been a major step forward in addressing certain biopharmaceutical concerns. Nanosponge is a polymer-based sphere that allows for managed drug delivery for both oral and topical use. A wide range of drugs can be loaded into nanosponge for targeted drug delivery Nanosponge can be loaded with both lipophilic and
hydrophilic drugs. Another remarkable feature of these is their aqueous Solubility, which allows them will be used more consistently for medications with low solubility, improving bioavailability, minimizing drug toxicity, and avoiding drug degradation. The review aims to elucidate the general introduction, characteristics of nanosponges, as well as their preparation, characterization methods, applications, and recent updates in drug delivery.
