ABSTRACT
Now a days oral route of drug delivery system considered as most convenient and economical method. The convenience of administration and improved patient compliance are important in the design of oral drug delivery system. One such approach is mouth dissolving tablet (MDT) with disintegrates instantly when placed on tongue releasing the drug that dissolve or disperse in the saliva. Difficulty in swallowing (dysphagia) is common problem of all age groups, especially paediatric, geriatric and bed ridden patients, travelling patients because of physiological changes associated with these groups of patients. MDT were developed with an aim of having sufficient hardness, and faster disintegration without water. MDT are disintegrating or dissolve rapidly in the saliva without need for water. A solid dosage form containing medicinal substance with disintegrates rapidly usually
within a matter of second when place upon the tongue. The tablets dissolved usually within 15 seconds to 2 minutes. This article describes the various formulation aspects super disintegrants employed and technologies developed for MDTs along with various excipients evaluation tests marketed formulation and drug used in his research area.
