Abstract

A REVIEW OF IMPORTANT AYURVEDIC MEDICINAL PLANTS FROM LEGUMINOSAE FAMILY

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda or the Science of Life is the oldest system of medicine. It was originated in India about five thousand years ago. It is based on a holistic view of treatment which is believed to cure human diseases through establishment of equilibrium in the different elements of human life, the body, the mind, the intellect and the soul. Ayurveda has mentioned nearly six thousand different medicinal plants & their therapeutic properties. These plants are classified into different families according to modern Botany. This review article is aimed at compilation of Ayurvedic medicinal plants belonging to Leguminosae family .
