ABSTRACT
A series of novel 4-phenyl-9-pyridin-3-yl-1,6-dithia-4,9-diazaspiro [4,4]nonane-3,8-diones and 3,4-diphenyl-9-pyridin-3-yl-1-oxa-6-thia- 2,4,9-triazaspiro[4,4]non-2-en-8-ones were synthesized by involving 3- aminopyridine as raw material and 2-chloro-N-pyridin-3-yl-acetamide and 2-phenylimino-3-pyridin-3-yl-thiazolidin-4-ones as intermediates. The chemical structures of the all newly synthesized compounds were elucidated by their IR, 1H and 13 C NMR, mass spectral data and elemental analysis. Further, the target compounds were used to find their antibacterial and antifungal activity against various microorganisms.
Keywords: Spirothiazolidins, Antibacterial activity, Antifungal activity.
