ABSTRACT
Rheumatoid arthritis is a multi-system persistent disorder without any definite purpose. Pain is the most common symptom of rheumatoid arthritis and is intensified by movement. Recent medications focused on a greater interpretation of disease pathology, have resulted in major improvements in the governance of disease. Patients have experienced better outcome and less joint destruction as a result of intensive DMARD and biologics treatment. These medications indeed have severe side effects such as rashes, kidney diseases, lung diseases, UTI, breathlessness, and many more. To overcome such side effects and give patients relief from primary symptom of rheumatoid arthritis (painand swelling) novel gel formulations have been developed. Gels are semisolid preparations that contain external solvent phase and are immobilized inside the domains of a 3-D channel framework. This review has covered the most recent developments in transdermal drug delivery using conventional as well as new gel forms and innovations for topical and transdermal drug delivery.
