ABSTRACT
The present study includes the formulation and evaluation of sustained
release matrix tablet of Antiviral drug. For this study Peramivir
selected as model drug. For this study using natural polymer, to
improve matrix performance and release characteristics, a water
soluble hydrophilic additive like lactose Magnicium stearate was
added. This study deals with the investigations carried out with the
objective of developing oral sustained release formulations through
matrix tablets for the widely used Antiviral drug Peramivir using
natural gum as Taro gum and evaluation of their sustained release
potential. Compatibility study of drug and polymer was conducted by employing FTIR
Spectral. As the identical principal peaks were observed in all the cases, hence it shall be
confirmed that interactions do not exist between the drug and polymer. The sustained release
matrix tablet prepared by wet granulation technique using different proportions of natural
polysaccharides. The pre compression characters of prepared granules for tablet formulation
using different polysaccharide ratios were performed. The per compression parameters of
prepared granules for tablet formulation using polysaccharide in different ratios. Sustained
release tablet formulation prepared by using Taro gum which complies with official
specifications. Further the release of drug from the tablet exhibited a sustained & controlled
pattern over an extended time period.
