Abstract

PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC STUDY OF ‘DANDOTPALADI YOG’ (KALPITA YOG) IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ‘RAKTAPRADARA’ W.S.R. TO MENORRHAGIA

ABSTRACT

Aims: The aim of the study was to evaluate the pharmacotherapeutic efficacy of the Dandotpaladi yog in Raktapradara. Materials and methods: The study was a prospective randomized single blind clinical trial. Total 40 female patients who had the sign and symptoms of Raktapradara and full filling the criteria of selection were randomly allocated to one of the two groups, 20 patients in each group. Group-A received Dandotpaladi yog, orally in powder form 3gms, twice daily for 7days per menstrual cycle for 3 consecutive months while Group-B received Pushyanuga churna 3gms orally with water twice daily for 7days per menstrual cycle for 3 consecutive months. Assessment of the Raktapradara (menorrhagia) was based on specific symptomatology of Raktapradara and hematological parameters. All the sign and symptoms were assessed before and after the treatment by the symptoms rating score, and then it was statistically analyzed. Results: At the end of treatment, there were significant difference found between the groups in Days of bleeding (p 0.0075) and amount of flow (p 0.0198) and group A showed better relief in these symptoms. There were not significant differences found in both groups in symptoms of Angamarda, Pain, Pandutvam, Daurbalyata, Thirst and Daha (p >0.05). There were not significant differences found in CT and Hb% in both the groups (p >0.05) while in the bleeding time a very significant difference was found in both the groups (p 0.0072). Conclusion: The Dandotpaladi yog showed significantly better relief in Days of bleeding and amount of flow then the Pushyanuga churna. It significantly reduces the bleeding and clotting time and improves the hemoglobin level.
