A REVIEW ON THE MICROSCOPICAL AND MACROSCOPICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF DATURA STRAMONIUM

ABSTRACT
Datura stramonium is commonly known as thorn apple belongs to family Solanaceae. It is a wide growing plant and is easily accessible. In Ayurvedic medicine, D. stramonium has been used for curing various human ailments, including ulcers, wounds, inflammation, rheumatism and gout, sciatica, bruises and swellings, fever, asthma and bronchitis, and toothache. It is one the important medicinal plant from which tropane alkaloids, amino acids, tannins, phytic acids and carbohydrates can be isolated. In Ayurveda medicine, it is used for the curing of various human ailments such as wounds, ulcers,
inflammation, gout, bruises, fever, asthma and bronchitis. These pharmacological activities have made the plant available for the treatment of various disorders and due to its medicinal aspects. It is highly accepted in pharmaceutical industries.
