TREATMENT OF GALLBLADDER POLYPS WITH CURCUMIN FOR PATIENTS PRONE TO BLEEDING
Jian Zhang*
ABSTRACT
Curcumin can be used to treat gallbladder polyp, but its therapeutic window is very small for patients who are prone to bleeding due to concomitant administrations of blood thinning medications. Therefore, doses for this population should be much lower than the label claims, for example, 28.6 mg to 66.7 mg daily for bioavailability enhancing dosage forms and about 131 mg daily for conventional turmeric. If the size of the polyp is greater than 0.6 cm, higher doses of the range should be used. But if size of the polyp is smaller than 0.6 cm, lower doses of the range should be applied to minimize the potential of bleeding.
